NCBFAA Awards Michigan High School Senior $5,000 Scholarship

Washington DC: The National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America, Inc. (NCBFAA) is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2012 $5,000 Annual Scholarship is Lauren Trulik. A high school senior, Lauren will be attending college this fall to concentrate in international business. Lauren’s father, Joe, is a General Manager with FedEx Trade Networks Transport & Brokerage in Romulus, MI and is actively involved in both the national and local brokers Associations. To qualify for the award, Ms. Trulik submitted an essay on “How Do U.S. Companies Benefit From Trade?” that was judged by an NCBFAA panel of experts to be the winner.

“I was very excited when I learned that I had won the scholarship because it really proves that hard work pays off and it will be a big help to my family,” she said. “I am truly grateful to Roanoke Trade Services, Inc. and the NCBFAA for the wonderful and generous opportunity they have provided me through their Scholarship Program.”

As the scholarship winner, Lauren is invited to join the NCBFAA members at their Annual Conference at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa, Hollywood, FL, where a representative of Scholarship sponsor Roanoke Trade Services, Inc., will present her with the award during the Conference Opening Breakfast on April 23.

This is the 19th year that the NCBFAA has promoted this scholarship competition as a way to further education in our industry. By helping students defray the cost of learning about the customs broker and forwarder businesses, the NCBFAA scholarship program contributes to the increasing professionalism of our industry and encourages those seeking a career in international trade and commerce.
