NCBFAA Awards C.H. Robinson Brokerage Entry Writer $5,000 Scholarship

Washington DC: The National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America, Inc. (NCBFAA) is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2014 $5,000 Annual Scholarship is Heather Benjamin. Ms. Benjamin, an employee with C.H. Robinson’s Global Forwarding Chicago Branch in Wood Dale, IL, is continuing her studies at the University of Illinois in Chicago.

“Being selected to receive this scholarship is an honor for which I am extremely grateful to both the NCBFAA and scholarship-sponsor Roanoke Trade,” she said. “This award will go a long way in supporting my efforts at completing my bachelor’s degree.”

To qualify for the award, she submitted an essay on “If Higher Tariffs Generate More Revenue, Why Are There So Many Free Trade Agreements?” that was judged by an NCBFAA panel of experts to be the winner.

This is the 21st year that the NCBFAA has promoted this scholarship competition as a way to further education in our industry. By helping students defray the cost of learning about the customs broker and forwarder businesses, the NCBFAA scholarship program contributes to the increasing professionalism of our industry and encourages those seeking a career in international trade and commerce.
