COURSES OFFERED ON LOGISTICS-EI
What courses are offered on LogisticsEI?
The NEI offers the following courses on LogisticsEI:
The Certified Export Specialist (CES) Course is still housed on Gistnet.com. Contact education@ncbfaa.org with questions regarding the CES Course.
CERTIFICATION
How many credits must I earn in order to recertify my designation?
All CCS/CES/MES designees must earn a certain amount of continuing education credits in order to recertify their designation each year. All designees must complete their credits by the Expiration Date listed under the Certifications tab of their transcript on LogisticsEI.
Effective July 2015, the CCS course has been changed from a weighted score course to a self-paced online course with open and on-going enrollment. The cost will remain $650 (for members) or $1250 (non-members). The CCS course will no longer have scheduled quizzes, and the quizzes will no longer be weighed out for a final score. The CCS Course will be broken up into 23 modules, each with an assessment at the end requiring a passing grade of 75% to proceed to the next module. Four checkpoint quizzes will be placed throughout the course, and a final proctored online exam will be placed at the end of the course. The proctor must be a colleague authorized by the NEI. A passing grade for the final exam will be 75% which will indicate completion of the CCS course and full certification of the Certified Customs Specialist.
The CES course will remain the same and will continue to be hosted on GISTnet. The CES exam is also web-based, but has on-going, open enrollment. You need 1 year of experience in exports to take the course, and, as with the CCS, we require an application, letter from your employer, and a copy of your resume. The cost for the course is also $650 (for members) or $1250 (non-members). You would need to complete all of the modules and passing the proctored, online CES final exam to gain certification. The passing grade for the CES course is also 75%.
The NEI is proud to provide free case studies to all certified and active CCS, CES, and MES designees. Current case studies can always be found here.
The case studies will also be listed directly on LogisticsEI under Browse Categories.
NOTES
LogisticsEI is designed to allow users to learn at their convenience and become certified at any time. If you have been certified since before 2015 and have not allowed your certification to lapse, you may continue to recertify on a calendar-year basis.
Effective July 2015, however, the renewal system has been updated from a fixed annual date to an anniversary date sysmte. All designees must complete their credits by the Expiration Date listed under the Certifications tab of their transcript on LogisticsEI.
![]() Once you are certified, you are required to pay an annual renewal fee and earn continuing education credits. CCS and CES designees must earn 20 credits per year, and MES designees must earn 15 credits per year. Do not wait until the end of your certification period to earn your credits!
You can track all your credits on your Transcript.
One month before your certification expires, you will be notified by email to recertify.
What should I do if my certification has lapsed?/How do I reinstate my certification?
If your certification has lapsed, you must reinstate into your program (CCS/CES/MES).
For instance, if you did not earn enough credits by your expiration date and therefore did not renew your certifcation on time, you are considered lapsed in our system and must reinstate in order to become active again.
Reinstatement is a two-step process:
1) If you would like to reinstate, please contact a member of the NEI Staff. They will send you two reinstatement case studies to complete manually. 2) Once you have completed and passed those case studies, you must pay a reinstatement fee (similar to a renewal fee).
Once you have been reinstated, your fee will return to the normal $95 renewal fee the following year.
