Gelsomino, Lisa

Lisa Gelsomino is the President/CEO for Avalon Risk Management, a premier provider of innovative insurance and surety solutions for the transportation industry.  Lisa is a founding partner and currently overseas home office and regional operations for Avalon.  Lisa is also an active member of the NCBFAA ISF Subcommittee, TSN eBond Subcommittee, and COAC Bond Working Group. 

During the last 20 years, Lisa held numerous positions in the insurance industry on both the agency and insurance company side.  She is a licensed insurance broker and active member of several industry associations, including NCBFAA, AfA, AEMCA, NAFTZ, and others.  In recognition of her industry contributions, she was highlighted by the Journal of Commerce in 2002 as one of 25 Successful Women in International Trade.  Under her leadership, Avalon has been nominated Best Places to Work in Insurance for three years in a row and was selected as the Commercial Agency of the Year in 2012 for Overall Excellence winning 3 of the 5 eligible categories. 

Lisa graduated from Northern Illinois University Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Business.  She received her M.B.A from Northwestern University’s J.L Kellogg School of Management with concentrations in Marketing, Management, and International Business. 

Lisa and her family live in Bartlett, Illinois and she enjoys spending time and traveling with her 7 year old son, Aidan.
