Cerny, Michael

 

Michael V. Cerny is an attorney, in practice for over 30 years, specializing in customs and international trade matters.  He is Member of Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A., a law firm focused exclusively on customs and trade law.  Mr. Cerny serves as outside drawback counsel to STTAS, a UPS Company.  Mr. Cerny also is a founding shareholder of duty drawback broker Global Customs & Trade Specialists, Inc.  Mr. Cerny is admitted to the United States Court of International Trade and is a member of the Customs & International Trade Bar Association, the American Bar Association Section of International Law & Practice, the New York State Bar Association, and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.  Mr. Cerny is a member of the U.S. Customs & Border Protection Trade Support Network and was selected by CBP to serve as a TSN Trade Ambassador and on its Trade Leadership Council.  He the Chair for the TSN Subcommittee on Drawback, Co-Chair of the TSN Legal Policy Committee, and a member of the TSN Entry Committee.  Mr. Cerny is on the Board of Governors for the American Association of Exporters & Importers, as well as Co-Chair of AAEI’s Drawback and Duty Deferral Committee.  He is also the Chair of the Drawback Committee for the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America.  Mr. Cerny received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University at Albany, where he also played varsity lacrosse for the Albany Great Danes.  He received his J.D. degree from Albany Law School.  Mr. Cerny writes and speaks frequently on customs and trade issues, including compliance, valuation and drawback.
