Dixon, Lisa

 

Dr. Lisa Dixon is the current Director of Animal Product Imports with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services (APHIS), Veterinary Services (VS), Strategy and Policy (S&P). She currently manages a staff of 9 veterinary medical officers responsible for the permitting, negotiating, and policy making for animal product imports.

 

Dr. Dixon is a 1999 graduate of Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine and began her veterinary career by completing an equine internal medicine internship at Oklahoma State University followed by many years in private practice for large, small, and exotic animal medicine and surgery.

 

Dr. Dixon entered the federal workforce in 2008 with FSIS as a Supervisory Public Health Veterinarian (SPHV) and performed Food Safety Assessments as an Enforcement Investigation and Analysis Officer (EIAO). She earned a Masters in Public Health from Walden University in 2011, and in 2013, she joined APHIS as a veterinary medical officer overseeing regulatory policy for the imports of animal by-products.

 

Dr. Dixon also oversees the USDA Approved Establishment (AE) Program for Restricted Products, serves as a subject matter expert for the cross functional working for Regulated Garbage (RG), and serves as an ex-officio member of the VS National Civil Rights & Diversity Advisory Council.
