Kamath, Vivek

 

Dr. Kamath is currently a Veterinary Medical Officer with USDA APHIS Veterinary Services (VS).  


Dr. Vivek Kamath started his USDA career after being selected as a Saul T. Wilson, Jr. Scholarship recipient in 2012. He was a veterinary student trainee with USDA in Georgia and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. He joined USDA APHIS VS as a field veterinarian in Maryland soon after in June 2014. After some exciting years in the field chasing pigs, sheep, people, and other animals, he joined the VS Strategy and Policy staff at the USDA APHIS headquarters in Riverdale, MD in March 2016. He is part of the APHIS ACE Project team and serves as the VS representative, working closely with the team to support APHIS’s participation in the ACE/ITDS “single window” initiative. Dr. Kamath lives in northern Virginia with his wife, 3 year old son, and 2 dogs.
