NCBFAA Educational Institute Announces CES Grandfathering Exam Opportunity

Washington, DC: The National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America, Inc. (NCBFAA) Educational Institute (NEI) announces that those eligible to grandfather into the Certified Export Specialist (CES) program will have an opportunity to do so prior to the 2009 NCBFAA Government Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington, DC.
        “CES is designed to help trade professionals involved in the export industry to become competent and knowledgeable in the current export regulations,” said Cynthia D. (Jerome) Allen, LCB, CCS, NCBFAA Educational Institute Director. “The available coursework is varied and wide-ranging, encompassing all aspects of the trade.”
        On Saturday, September 12, at 8:30 a.m., the NCBFAA will conduct a four-hour exam prep session before administering the CES Grandfather Examination at 1 p.m. those confident enough to pass without it may skip the review and just sit for the exam.

• All registrants will be required to present documentation with proof of the following:
• 10 years minimum experience with an OTI (Freight Forwarder, NVOCC) or an exporter.
• Application form must contain company name, contact name and email/phone number for verification along with dates of employment.
• Must hold a management position within current company.
• Application must be accompanied by certification on company letterhead by an officer of the company verifying position/title of applicant.

       Those participating in the prep session will review the basic topics of the Certified Export Specialist course to include but not limited to: Export Control, Export Licenses, Export Administration Regulations, ECCN Classification, Destination Country Controls, Anti Boycott Regulations, State Department – ITAR, Drug Enforcement Agency, Office of Foreign Assets and Control, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Other Government Agencies, Customs and Border Protection, Census – Foreign Trade Statistics Regulations, Export Violations, Recordkeeping, Security, Export Quotations, Payment Terms, Letters of Credit, Bookings, NVOCC, Air Freight, AES/EEI, Bills of Lading, Export Documentation, Destination Country Requirements, Carnet, Marine Cargo Insurance, and Federal Maritime Commission Regulations.
