Verdery, Bonner, McGowan Keynoting

Washington, DC: Senior Department of Homeland Security (DHS) personnel will address attendees Monday, September 22 during the NCBFAA 2003 Government Affairs Conference at the Wyndham Washington, D.C. Hotel. On Tuesday, senior staff from the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will brief attendees and respond to their questions regarding ongoing CBP activities affecting the transportation logistics community.
        From 10:45-11:45 a.m., September 22, the Honorable Stewart Verdery, Assistant Secretary for Planning and Policy, DHS, will speak in the Monticello Ballroom on "The New Department of Homeland Security: How It Will Balance Its Missions." NCBFAA Chairman of the Board Peter H. Powell will introduce him.
        During lunch (12-1:45 p.m.) at Home Builders Association (across the street from the Hotel, lobby level), the Honorable Robert Bonner, Commissioner, CBP, will provide participants with an overview of the continuing work of his department and how it melds with the overall mission of DHS. NCBFAA President Federico Zuniga will introduce him.
        From 3:45-5:00 p.m., Mr. John McGowan, Director for Cargo and Trade Policy, Office of Policy and Planning, U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security will address attendees in the Monticello Ballroom on the topic of "Homeland Security: A Department Level View." NCBFAA Washington Legislative Representative Jon Kent, will introduce him.
