NCBFAA Educational Institute Offering Customs House Brokers

Washington DCThe National Customs Brokers & Freight Forwarders of America, Inc., Educational Institute (NEI) will hold a Customs House Brokers Exam Preparation Course beginning June 13-16 in Chicago. Another is scheduled for July 31/August 1-3 in New York. 
        These four-day "boot camps" will prepare participants to take the Customs license exam in October. Participants who complete the course will receive another eight weeks of assignments along with a study plan to follow. 
        The course covers:

  • How to study: tips for improving study time.
  • What to study: covering the material most likely to appear on the exam.
  • Study Material throughout the week, emphasizing the key areas reviewed.

        This course prepares individuals for the customs broker exam as well as provides interested persons with knowledge about international trade. The class format allows for questions, guidance and continuous examples of actual test questions.
        With hands on, in-depth approach to studying, this course guides participants through the Customs Regulations with real examples for classifying merchandise and anticipated exam questions. Frequent quizzes help familiarize attendees with the regulations. Course tuition is $1,195.00 and classes are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with additional assignments to reinforce topics covered each day.
        Materials include:

  • The Customs Brokers Study Course Book, with extensive training material, test questions, and assignments to follow during and after the course.
  • The last four Customs Brokers examinations.
  • Application form and instructions for applying for the exam.
  • Handouts and tips on taking the exam.
  • Certificate.
  • Lunch each day.

        Participants must bring their own copies of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) and the U.S. Customs Regulations for 2001, copies of which are available from the U.S. Government Printing Office at (202) 512-1800.
        The NEI is responsible for developing educational and seminar programs for the NCBFAA membership and other interested persons.
